Interior Planning · Melbourne

You have the plans.
You have the builder.
Something still doesn't feel right.

If you're building with a volume builder, custom builder, or architect who hasn't been involved in interior planning yet — the next few weeks are the most important. Let's talk before construction begins.

The problem

Plans look complete on paper. That's exactly when the problems start.

  • 01Lighting locked in before furniture is considered
  • 02Layouts that look generous on drawings but feel tight to live in
  • 03Kitchens that look beautiful but don't function
  • 04Storage discovered missing, not planned for
  • 05Finishes that don't feel cohesive once installed

If you haven't started construction yet, there's still time.

Our approach

This is where we come in — before it's too late to change anything.

We're not stylists who arrive at the end to dress a finished space. We work alongside you, your builder, and your architect during the planning phase — when every decision is still flexible.

  • Reviewing your plans and flagging what isn't working before it's fixed
  • Designing lighting and electrical with intention
  • Guiding material and finish selections into a cohesive whole
  • Integrating storage from the start, not adding it at the end
  • Asking the questions your builder won't — about flow, routine, and how each room will actually be used

A home that feels considered from the moment you move in.

The Clarity Session

The New Build Clarity Session — $850.

Before you lock anything in, let's look at your plans together.

01

Step 1Share Your Plans

You send me your plans and project details before we speak — so every conversation is specific to your home, not generic advice.

02

Step 2Initial Call

A brief phone conversation to talk through your project, your concerns, and what you want to achieve.

03

Step 3Detailed Review

Over 3–5 business days I go through your plans thoroughly — looking at what's working, what isn't, and what needs to be resolved before construction begins.

04

Step 460-Minute Zoom Session

I walk you through my findings in detail. Specific observations about your home — not generic advice.

05

Step 5Written Report

Within one business day of our Zoom call you receive a written report documenting everything — clearly laid out so nothing gets lost.

The framework

The Interior Planning Framework.

For homeowners who want to feel confident in every decision — before anything is locked in. A signature four-stage process that takes you through every fixed decision in your home, before construction begins.

01

Stage 1Spatial Planning

Reviewing and refining your layout — identifying what the plans aren't doing for you while change is still easy.

02

Stage 2Living Flow

Designing around your routines — storage, movement, and how each room will actually be used, integrated from the beginning.

03

Stage 3Lighting

Lighting and electrical layouts planned with your lifestyle in mind, not a standard template.

04

Stage 4Material Cohesion

A palette of materials and finishes that works as one considered whole — from the front door to the smallest powder room.

You'll arrive at your builder's selections appointments already knowing exactly what you want — with every decision documented and working together.

This isn't a styling service. It's the strategic design thinking that happens before selections — the work that determines whether your home feels intentional or accidental.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Should you hire an interior designer for your new build?+

If you want your new build to feel like your home rather than a display home, the answer is almost always yes — and the earlier, the better. A custom build involves hundreds of decisions and most are locked in before construction begins. The build delivers the structure. Design is what turns it into a home.

How much does an interior designer cost for new construction?+

Design Clarity Call + Pre-Build Report — $850. The Interior Planning Framework — from $7,500. Comprehensive whole-home interior design — typically $12,000 to $45,000+ depending on the size of the home. One rushed selections appointment can cost thousands in variations; good design protects the investment you're already making.

Interior designer vs. decorator — which do you need for a new home?+

A decorator styles the finished home after handover. An interior designer shapes the home itself: spatial planning, joinery, materials, lighting and electrical layouts, made before and during construction. For a new build, a designer is usually the right starting point.
